The bugle blows and you roll out of your bunk...the PA system starts pumping out music while you brush your teeth and prepare for the day ahead.
Report to the flagpole. Staff and campers “call out” anyone who has done something special. You hear your name “...for not giving up when the team was ready to quit, for leading us on to victory!” and join the others to form the “honor guard” and raise the flag.
Life at camp has given you an appetite equal to the most important meal of the day. Hot pancakes, maple syrup, fresh fruit, something to go in your pocket...
Get ready for inspection! You make your bed, put all your stuff away, and tidy up the cabin. No loafing.
Twice a day you pursue electives—instructional activities designed to improve your skills. Coaches and their assistants work closely with you and a few other campers in a small group setting. Each week you get to choose new electives.
Your favorite—Group Period. On any given day it could be baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, tennis, roller hockey, lacrosse, outdoor education, art, swimming at the waterfront, an intramural league or maybe a scrimmage. Life at Lenox is good.
You could eat your socks you’re so hungry! Your waitress can’t get the food on the table fast enough. Chicken, fries, a trip to the salad bar - seconds anyone?
Wow, you’re ready to sack out. Yesterday you wrote a letter home—can Mom and Dad understnad HOW MUCH FUN your having? Today your cabin visits the Canteen—it doesn’t get any better.
Ready, set, GO!
Your team is playing in the tournament today. You’ve practiced all week...you know you’re ready. Keep your head down, focus, and don't lose sight of the ball.
Some days your team has practice, sometimes you spend a little extra time working on your passing skills, but today is hot and Shaw Pond is calling your name. Dive in!
You “call out” your bunk-mate. She really did an amazing job sweeping out all of that mud you tracked in yesterday. The “honor guard” lowers the flag and returns it to the rafters of the Dining Hall.
Mmmm. Tacos. How much hot sause can you eat?
Check in at the Camper Lounge. You play some foosball and eat some ice cream to round out the day.
Hatchet Hunt! Listen closely as “Coach” Moss gives out clues. Everyone searches high and low for the wooden hatchet. Where is it? It would be just like Rich to put it in the lake!
Everyone starts making their way back to their cabins. Lower Camp prepares for bed. Upper Camp gets ready for their Late Night Activity. What’s going on tonight? Everybody says it’s top secret.
The bugle blows and you stop in your tracks, face the lake and stand quietly as the bugle plays.
You can hear the counselor in the next cabin telling a story to the younger campers. The bugle plays Taps and Lower Camp turns our their lights. You and the Upper Campers quietly gather for Evening Program.
